"You cannot build character and courage by taking away man's initiative and independence."
"You cannot help small men by tearing down big men."
"You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong."
"You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer."
"You cannot help the poor man by destroying the rich."
"You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income."
"You cannot further the brotherhood of man by initiating class hatred."
"You cannot establish security on borrowed money."
"You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift."
"You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves."
And this...
"Property is the fruit of labor...property is desirable...is a positive good in the world. That some should be rich shows that others may become rich, and hence is just encouragement to industry and enterprise. Let not him who is houseless pull down the house of another; but let him labor diligently and build one for himself, thus by example assuring that his own shall be safe from violence when built."
"To sin by silence when they should protest makes cowards of men."
Abraham Lincoln

Oh I know we all think of someone we feel needs to hear these words and live them, but that means we think we do not need to hear them. TY for reminding me I am not THERE yet. Each day must be a new resolve to become better. Blessings

oh Mary what a wonderful post. Thank you for your wonderful words on my blog when you visited. They are so true the words you spoke even though this was an extremely hard trip and didn't turn out the way I had planned on my journey starting out, the end result was incredible, I spent so much time with my dad that will live in my heart for a long time to come. Thank you again, God bless.
