Welcome to my tea cottage! You’re just in time to join me for tea…except that I only have a teapot and teacup for one today! No worries, though, it will just take me a second to grab another teacup for YOU!
Let’s sip for a while, then you will want to visit our pink and rosy tea and china loving Kim to see her wonderful tea things on this beautiful day, as well as the other participants of Tea Things Tuesday. Just click on that china cupboard to the right, and you’ll be right there!
This is one of my newest acquisitions…a teapot for one, purchased at Home Goods for only $4.99. Winter white is my favorite “color”. I honestly feel like I’m stealing from them at times…how can something this pretty be so inexpensive?
The leaf design is so Autumn looking, isn’t it? With these lovely placemats that I found at the same time, with their rosy red roses and pretty green leaves, it reminds me of my rose garden against our white house…the outside coming inside!
I found this set of 5 napkins at my favorite thrift store last week. The package said a set of 6, but when I got home and opened it, there were only 5. I bought them on Tuesday, which was 10% off day, so I paid a whopping $4.50 for the 5! I adore the brides basket accented by the 2 butterflies on either side…just too beautiful!
Hubby just lit a fire…we’re waiting for Dancing With the Stars to start, so I decided to make myself a cup of tea and have a scone or two for dessert.
I bought the rosy red rose stems years ago to use as napkin rings. They look nice with the place mats, I think.
I bought these plates at T.J. Maxx in June…this is the salad plate, but I also bought the dinner size…they are also winter white, and I really like the scalloped edges, along with the pretty trim. I managed to get 6 dinner plates, but only 4 salad plates…boo.
Time for candlelight…roses on the votive candle holders. Roses, roses, roses…I never get enough. They were another Home Goods buy. Love that Home Goods!!!
Hubby stretched out on his recliner in front of the fireplace, and Gracie getting comfortable on her checkered chair. It used to be my chair until we adopted her. Sometimes she shares…but not often. That’s okay, I’m perfectly content sitting here with my tea, scones, and candles. Now all I need is a good book to read while I wait for “Dancing” to begin!
Thanks so much for stopping by…I hope the fire and candlelight warmed you. Be sure to come back tomorrow to see more of my thrift store finds. Now don’t forget to visit Kim…she’s waiting for you!
God bless everyone. May you have a wonderful Tuesday, and please remember to pray for our soldiers. At this point, I just want them to come home…right or wrong…just bring them home. Please pray for our blogging friends who need to be lifted up for healing. And pray for our leaders to be literally slapped into reason by Almighty God, who must be asking the same thing we’re asking…”what on earth are you doing ?” It surely doesn’t look anything like “as it is in Heaven”.
Love to all!
Mary
Hello again dear Mary,
ReplyDeleteI love your little white teapot for one. Oh my those napkins are just gorgeous. I would love to sit by the fire with you and have tea and scones. It looks so cozy in your home!
Debbie
I just love everything! The little tea for one is just adorable and looks great with those pretty plates. Maybe you'll find the other two sometimes soon at TJ Maxx or HomeGoods. The closest HomeGoods to my house is nearly 2 hours away :(. That's probably a good thing though, or else I might spend all my money there. What a great deal on those napkins. They are just gorgeous, and they look like they're meant to go in those napkin rings. I love the pictures with the fire blazing in the background. I'll have to admit that I've never had a scone before, but they sure look good! Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteLovely!
ReplyDeleteSo very pleasant and relaxing.
God bless you and may you have a blessed Thanksgiving.

Oh Mary, it all looks so comfy and inviting. I'd love to curl up with Gracie in the checkered chair after a cup of tea. Will she share if I bring a doggie treat?
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Dawn
Your teapot is precious! And I love scones! Specially if there is lemon curd!!

Oh Mary everything is so beautiful! I love our little tea for one, and the napkins are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing your little spot of loveliness.
ReplyDeleteYour home looks so warm, inviting, cozy, and welcoming! I love it!
ReplyDeleteAnd I love your vintage look napkins, and all the white! And those roses look like they would be beautiful for Christmas too with a little green bough added. I love red and white for Christmas, it's so elegant looking and not 'over the top' like some color combinations.
I really like the look of white for Fall too, it's so unique and that tea pot is perfect with the Fall looking leaves. And then the design on the cup compliments the detail on the napkins. It's just pulled together so nicely.
That's something I have trouble with, my tablescapes end up looking like a hodgepodge of a mess most of the time. So I really appreciate visiting others that have that 'knack of coordination'!
Enjoy!
Love to you!, Eileen
Hi Mary
ReplyDeleteI don't know which of this stuff I love more. The beauitful little tea pot, the white napkins, the rose napkin holder, the placemats or the darling pretty little candles. It all goes together soo well, and looks very inviting. I think I would go with those napkins. What a find!! I love things like that. I too love Home Goods (imagine that, lol) and I am planning to make a trip over there today if I get my aprons done in time. Only 2 left, YAY!! We too lit a fire (for the first time) last night. It was great. And I had me some orange zest tea while we watched
"Dancing", haha Have a wonderful day Mary.

Everything is just beautiful, your table is just stunning. What a treat to do this for yourself.
ReplyDeleteI also miss my tea, I used to drink all kinds of flavors but now all I drink is Licorice root, ginger root and Marshmallow root tea. They seem to help heal my acid reflux and give me something hot to drink. I love the licorice root.
Hi Mary,
ReplyDeleteYou ask if I drink the green teas...No I don't, they really give me heart burn so I stay away from them. I only drink root teas that are alkaline forming in the stomach and there isn't very many of them. I have found I can drink apple cider as long as it has no preservatives in it, so I drink it hot with a stick of cinnamon. The licorice root will taste a little funny at first but when it hits a certain spot on your tongue, it is sweet. I love it but marshmallow root is suppose to help also so I drink that quite a lot....doesn't taste great but it is something I can drink and when you have acid reflux, there is not a lot out there you can drink.
