~One Anothering~

Thanks to Charlotte and Ginger, we are enjoying another wonderful  “Spiritual Sundays“,  please join them and be blessed!  Just click on the blue sky to the right.

From The Tea Lovers Devotional, by Emilie Barnes

“When we join forces with others, we become stronger, and it becomes difficult to weaken our positions. There is great strength in unity. This concept is at the center of why we need to be in a church that’s teaching God’s Word every time we meet. We need the support of others if we are to grow in Christ. We can join up with a mentor to learn the faith lessons they have gleaned from their experiences.  And we can become mentors to share our stories, our failings, and our victories as Christians. This is how we strength our journey and built up the body of Christ.

To impress upon you the importance of oneness, today I want you to examine various scriptures from the book of Romans:

* belong to one another (12:5)

*  be devoted to one another (12:10)

* honor one another (12:10)

* share with God’s people who are in need (12:13)

When has someone come alongside you and offered to help you through a difficult time?  It is amazing how much lighter  the workload becomes when there is one other person tackling it.  Just think how much can be done when you share your load with God!  I know it isn’t easy to ask for help, but give it a try. When you help someone, you feel good. When you allow someone to help you, you give them the opportunity to feel good.

Prayer:  God, let me realize how important it is to have a support system of fellow believers who have kindred spirits.  I cannot walk the journey alone – I need friends who will encourage me and lift me up.  I am not an island unto myself.  Amen

HEART ACTION:  Remember the “one another” scriptures and try to follow them during your day.  Reach out to others and allow others to connect with and support you.

Almost every  day, I read another heart wrenching blog, another person that has lost a job, or had an accident, or has been diagnosed with a life threatening disease. And they aren’t just telling us about their need, they are reaching out to us for prayer.  They are counting on us to support them, to encourage them, to pray for them, to expect a miracle with them.   We have a military that needs to be encouraged, lifted up in prayer, asking the Father for protection and safe keeping.  I pray that, in even a small way,  I am an encouragement to all of them,  and to my friends and family here at home.  We are hearing so much about “spreading the wealth” lately, but let’s spread the  LOVE, and be a light to those that are in darkness right now.  Let’s be a blessing out of the abundance that has been given to us.

Mary

  1. Amen, Mary ,
The Body of Christ does need one another , I was reading Watchman Nee recently & he points out that the body of Christ is not an illusration of what we are , but is a fact. Christ is the head of his Church, we are the members of the body & apart cannot function properly .When one part hurts ,all parts hurt. We should be praying one for another. Powerful Post, Thanks for sharing.

  3. Mary, I love your blog so much, it inspires me and brings so much hope to my heart. This was a beautiful post and I too believe in upholding one another in prayer. What more do we need that the Power of God on our side?

I'm still away and using a computer I'm not used to and this keyboard is driving me batty, so forgive my many mistakes.
I've been reading back a little and have enjoyed all your posts and I just want to say that my husband and I (and most of my family and friends) are on the exact same page with you on your political views.
I think our government is now in the hands of too many liberals. It's certainly not the way I want the country to go.
I pray that God watches over us. I'm not saying these are evil men and women but I do feel they are misguded. And if they want a form of Socialism to govern them, well, I think there are plenty of countries they can move to. Leave America alone! There are many of us who realize our way of governing needs improvement, but Socialism is not the way we lean.

I am sick of Washington, both Republican and Democrat. They do nothing but weigh down the middle class.
We need a few good men and women who have a hand on the pulse of America.

I too believe in the Power of Prayer. So let us confound the few that think they have all the power!
What they have in mind for their own selfish gains, God will turn to His Good.
I truly believe the Lord looks out for His own. And there is something all men should know, God Always Triumphs.

    God Bless you, Mary.
    God Bless and Keep America.
    Love and Prayers,
    Eileen

  5. Oh Mary this was a wonderful post (as always) pcked with so much truth. I've wondered many many times what in the world I would do without my brothers and sisters in the Lord. They are often times the hands and arms of our Lord. Yes, he truly gave us to each other for just this reason. To love and support and to laugh with and cry with to encourage and admonish and to be His physical arms to hug and comfort. Thanks for sharing this. Have a wonderful Sunday....Blessings to you, Debbie

  6. Mary, I'm so glad I'm getting to know you through our blogs. What you write is so important about the body of Christ. We are to not give up meeting together. I was unable to attend church for several weeks and was so thankful for my small group Bible study not forgetting me. I wrote on Thankful Thursday about receiving an encouragement basket from this group. I am going to attend this morning. But it was such a blessing to be remembered and loved on.

I also am so grateful for the blogging community who are so quick to encourage and love each other. You are a wonderful example of that too.

    Blessings,
    Debbie

  8. Oh, Mary ... How today's message has lifted my spirits! Long ago, I (mistakenly) believed that "real" Christians had no failings; that I might never measure up. Indeed, there is such power in the unity of kindred spirits!

Thank you for deLIGHTing my day!

    Blessings,

    Myra

Thank you so much for this wonderful and very reassuring post on "one another". I know I'm guilty of not reaching out, but I am working on it;).
I'm so grateful that you and I have found each other in this bloggie-world. Your beautiful heart, wisdom and support have been a true answer to prayer~~Thank you.

  15. Thanks Mary, this post is really inspirational. I recall a fellow Believer telling me that it's not possible to love someone who isn't a long-time friend. But where does it says that in God's word?
Have a great Lord's day, my sister :o)

  17. This is so true, Mary. We need one another. The Lord knew we would need one another. I believe that is why there are so many scriptures about it. Thank you for sharing with us.

  19. This is a wonderful post! I think the song should be "People who need people are the most blessed people in the world!" The Lord gave us family and friends to support each other. I'm thankful for finding so many Christian blogger friends, I think we are just drawn to each other, the "magnet" within us being the Holy Spirit!! PTL!

What a beautiful post ~ it touched my heart so much!! We need the love and support of other believers during hard times, joyful times, and even just everyday because we never know when the Lord will give us a timely WORD for our friend :) or a lesson in the simplest of things!

Even is this bloggy world ~ blogging with believers encourages and inspires me with the love and support the Lord gives me through so many!!

  24. Hi again Mary. Thank you for your lovely comment on the new header for Spiritual Sundays. Yes, I took that picture last week when we were in Sedona. The previous one I took through the car window as we were driving by the chapel. This time we parked and I got out and shot the picture. It turned out better, of course.
    Blessings,
    Charlotte
