I can’t believe another week has flown by, and we are so close to the end of the summer of 2009! I’m so glad, though, that even with the beautiful colors of autumn filling our blogs with decorating crafts and ideas, we can always celebrate PINK! Thanks to our lovely and gracious hostess, Beverly at http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com for bringing us together in celebration of pink, a color that is year round, and always in style.
I’d like you to meet this sweet little Corolle doll. I was in a toy store in Sacramento about 20 years ago, looking for a gift for a friend’s daughter. When I saw this doll, I had to have her because she reminded me of my own daughter when she was little. None of my granddaughters play with dolls…they love stuffed animals, like Build-A-Bear, and Webkinz. They buy clothes for them, doll carriages, baby bottles and such, and play with them the way I played with my dolls when I was little. So this doll has been MY doll. Even though no one really plays with her, somehow she has lost one of the flowers in her bonnet, and her shoes and socks! I think they were “borrowed” for those furry babies!
I never did give her a name…any suggestions? I like Abby, and Dixie, and Belle. Somehow I know she’s a southern girl!
Oh, to have this thick head of hair again! I love the hat, with it’s pink flowers in the front and the pink polka dot bow in the back.
Still wearing her original dress.
Here is another of the mini tea sets in my collection.
The serving plate…with a scalloped rim and covered with beautiful roses in lovely shades of pink!
Living proof that summer is still here…geraniums on the deck…love this vibrant pink!
A baby ivy plant in a mosaic pot
If only life could be like pink…It’s soft, romantic, feminine, calming, and well, just beautiful! To think that some people don’t like pink is unthinkable! That’s okay, we all have our favorites colors, but if yours is pink, be sure to click on that pretty pink lady to visit Beverly and other participants that have some lovely pinks to show today!
Have a wonderful week-end, everyone…be safe, have fun, and be sure to keep “living in the pink”!
Mary
Hi Mary. Your doll is pretty and I love her hat. I reminds me of the ones I used to wear for Sunday School as a little girl. That teaset is gorgeous!!! Wow, it is mouthwateringly sweet. I'll have 2 lumps of sugar please :o)
ReplyDeleteGod bless your weekend.
Lovely doll and china teaset. I too bought a doll a few years ago that reminds me of my daughter.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend,
Carolyn
Love all your pinks and she sure looks like a Bella to me. Happy PS have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely doll and she even has her own beatiful tea sets. Happy pink Saturday
ReplyDeleteYes, life should be pink, or at the very least, pastel. Have a wonderful weekend and thanks so much for your hint about the editor! See you (with goodies) next week!
ReplyDeleteHi Mary,
ReplyDeleteI love your doll and what a pretty girl she is. I have always loved dolls myself and never got to buy any because I had three boys and now, four grandsons! Maybe someday I'll be able to buy a dollie! She looks like a Belle to me with her pretty hair and outfit! Love your little teaset too. Happy Pink Saturday and enjoy your weekend.
Blessings,
Sandi
Mary, everything in your post today is beautiful. I don't think girls of any age grow out of their love of dolls. Why would we? I too think she is a southern bell. How about the names, Cora Bell, Annamae Or Jessie Lyn. I am sure you will find the perfect name for her. I love the tea set, you captured the colors perfectly. I have always liked hanging geraniums but have never had any luck with them. Yours are so nice, Happy Pink Saturday and thanks for the wonderful post, Char
ReplyDeleteHi Mary! Your doll is so pretty. I think we adult women still need our dolls, don't you? Your tea sets are lovely. Happy Pink Saturday!
ReplyDeleteHi Mary. Oh it's so good to be back and to start catching up on visiting blogs. I've missed so much being away for week. Your pinks today are lovely. What a beautiful doll and that miniature tea set is gorgeous. The rose pattern is the same or very similar to one of my tea sets.
ReplyDeleteTeacup Tuesday (to be renamed Tea Things Tuesday) will resume this coming week so I'm anxious for that and to see what everyone will be sharing.
Hope you have a great Labor Day weekend Mary.
See you on Tuesday!!
Kim
Hi Mary, she is just an adorable little doll and the teaset is charming. I just love all your pink goodies!
ReplyDeleteHave a happy and safe Labor Day Weekend, sweet lady.

ReplyDeleteWhat lovely flowers. Ours always look a bit sad at this time of year (except our oversize hydrangea, of course), you obviously take better care of them than we do!
ReplyDeleteHi Mary!!
ReplyDeleteOh your little doll is so sweet~~LOVE the Pinks!!
I love the name Belle,too.
Some Southern names actually are the first and middle names together...Annie Mae (my great-grandmother),Sara Elizabeth. I did have a friend named Scarlett...not that's a Southern girl~lol!
I just made some little crochet soft shoes for a Corolle Calin doll..Let me know what your doll's foot length and width is and I will make you some that is if you like, my treat!♥
Hugs to you sweet friend!

ReplyDeleteHi Mary, I love your doll and if she were mine I would name her Caroline....that just seems like such a southern ladies name too me.

Hi Mary,
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday! Love your special doll. She looks like a Belle to me. Such a prety tea set too. Yes, I agree, who couldn't love the color pink? It is indeed so calming and feminine.
Have a great weekend!
Debbie
Happy Pink Saturday Mary!
ReplyDeleteAs her tag said Corolle, Carolina would be a beautiful name, but she looks like she has a Magnolia bloom on her hat, so Magnolia is also a beautiful name. She has the most beautiful eyes for a doll. I have always wanted long, dark, curly hair, instead I was blessed with long, blonde, straight hair. (We always want what we don't have). She is a beautiful doll and thanks so much for sharing her. I can't wait for the post when you let us know who she is to become. Name her for us. Stop by and visit my PS post. I so love it when you do. Country hugs and love, Sherry
omg! Happy Pink Saturday...all is wonderful!

I'm with Sherry, Magnolia would be lovely. You could call her Maggie for short. Your mini tea set is so pretty. Love your pinks!
ReplyDeleteValerie
Hmmm her dress gave me an idea...hoa bout Cora Belle? That sounds southern to me!
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely pinks you have pictured :)

Helly Mary the doll is so gorgeous. I think you should combine the names if you like them the best, like Abby Belle southern gals tend to have two names :0) mine is Heidi Ann lol. Well take care sweety lovely pink Saturday post. Happy Saturday and have a wonderful weekend. Thank you for all your kind words while I was on my journey, now that things are a little more situated I will be able to respond more frequently. Take care.
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed weekend,

The doll is precious. I loved playing with baby dolls when I was a little girl. I can't imagine substituting a bear or any other animal. Times have changed a lot. Of course I am pretty old.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the rest of your pink post too.
Charlotte
Your pinks are so very sweet. The doll reminds me of my darling daughters doll when she was very young.
ReplyDeleteIf you have a moment-- I would love for you to stop by and say hi!
TTFN~~ Claudia ♥ ♥
HI Mary,
ReplyDeleteYour doll is sweet, I know a very dear 94 year old southern lady named Clara Belle, that name might work for your dolly!
I love your tiny little tea set, I've always liked those and remember wishing I had a real china one when I was young. My tea set was plastic - it's not the same!! Guess that's why I collect so many dishes and glasses now.....
Have a fun weekend
