~AAADD~

 maxine at keyboard

Happy Friday , everyone.  It’s almost the week-end, and I hope everyone has plans for either having a great time with family and friends, or just kicking back and resting from the busy work week you’ve had.

I’m adding this link to my post…just discovered Friday Funnies, and joined in  with Kim at http://homesteadersheart.blogspot.com/.  Nothing like having a good laugh to usher in the week-end, so be sure to visit the other participants…some of them will have tears rolling down your cheeks in laughter!

I have really been having a lazy week, and little motivation to do much of anything. I painted half of the hallway, but was afraid I would run out of paint, so went to Lowe's to get more...four days ago...and haven't finished it yet! I also bought some new plants for the back yard, then totally forgot about them, so found them today, deader than a doornail.

My husband was teasing me about having ADD, and I remembered that I had received the following in an email, and had saved it in my documents...thought you might get a laugh...and maybe even identify with it!

AAADD- KNOW THE SYMPTOMS!

Thank goodness there's a name for this disorder. Somehow I feel better, even though I have it!!

Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. - Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder. This is how it manifests:

I decide to water my garden.

As I turn on the hose in the driveway, I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.

As I start toward the garage, I notice mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mail box earlier.

I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.

I lay my car keys on the table, put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table, and notice that the can is full.

So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the garbage first.

But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the garbage anyway, I may as well pay the bills first.

I take my check book off the table, and see that there is only one check left.

My extra checks are in my desk in the study, so I go inside the house to my desk where I find the can of Coke I'd been drinking.

I'm going to look for my checks, but first I need to push the Coke aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over.

The Coke is getting warm, and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.
As I head toward the kitchen with the Coke, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye--they need water.

I put the Coke on the counter and discover my reading glasses that I've been searching for all morning.

I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I'm going to water the flowers.
I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table.

I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, I'll be looking for the remote, but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers.

I pour some water in the flowers, but quite a bit of it spills on the floor.

So, I set the remote back on the table, get some towels and wipe up the spill.

Then, I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day:the car isn't washed, the bills aren't paid, there is a warm can of Coke sitting on the counter, the flowers don't have enough water, there is still only 1 check in my check book, I can't find the remote, I can't find my glasses, and I don't remember what I did with the car keys.

Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all  day, and I'm really tired.

I realize this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help for it, but first I'll check my e-mail....

Don't laugh -- if this isn't you yet, your day is coming!!

I hope you got a laugh out of this…it is funny, even if it is frustrating at times.  Interestingly enough, I have friends under 50 that experience the same forgetfulness. Do you suppose that we just have too much on our plates, and aren’t prioritizing properly? Hmmmm?

Please remember to pray for our blogging friends that are battling disease or other problems, and pray for our troops and their families. Also, pray for our president and Congress...we continue to learn of more corruption than I ever imagined.  We  are divided, and there is much chaos in our nation...pray that God will hold us together and bring this to an end, protecting our constitution and our borders from terrorists or any other dangers,  from within or without.

With all the turmoil in our world, wouldn't it be nice if everyone would stop talking, listen to one another, and sit down for a cup of tea...perhaps they would have a new perspective on things! Can tea solve the world's problems? Perhaps not, but at least we would enjoy a moment of sanity once in awhile!

God bless everyone!

Mary

  22. Hi Mary. I am not quite there yet! LOL. What the world needs are Godly leaders, but what we've actually have are those who blatantly flaunt their self-interest, and care not one jot for anyone else. All we can do is pray, my dear.

  23. .. I think we are related! Chuckle!

Yes, please pray for our constitution to remain in tact & that God will remain foremost in our lives. Have a lovely weekend. TTFN ~Marydon

  24. Oh Ya, Lot of us woman can relate to this... so funny yet frustrating it is! I do my best to try to focus, but I end of messing up some where in the day. I have a problem by putting something away knowing that it will be in a good place. When the time comes to get it, I forget where I have put it. This was a very good post and I enjoy it very much.

    Have a Great Day-
