~Tablescape Thursday in Blue~

Please visit our hostess, Susan,  at www.betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com for some beautiful table setting inspiration!

One of the first sets of dishes I bought after being married was Franciscan’s Denmark in blue.  It also comes in red, but I didn’t know that the time.  I believe I heard that Johnson Brothers bought Franciscan’s business, and continued making this pattern, however, I don’t know if it is still called Denmark or not.  I’ve seen it at T.J. Maxx at very affordable prices!  My set includes the dinner plate, salad plate, rimmed soup bowl, and cup with saucer, teapot, creamer and sugar bowl, and butter plate.

The larger white plate beneath the other dishes was a great buy from T.J. Maxx last week.  I bought 8 dinner plates, but only 3 salad plates were available, and no cups and saucers – boo.  I’m still on the hunt, though.  I know they’ll turn up, I just know it!

We’ve had very hot weather lately, but today was beautiful, with a mild breeze, so I decided to set the table out on the deck.  I found these darling white pitchers at Home Goods a couple of weeks ago.  Grouping them in three’s gives them more punch!    They are very versatile, too.  I’ve had them in several places around my home already, and I’m sure they will continue to travel in the weeks to come!

When I spotted the blue goblets with the green base, I hadn’t even thought about using the Denmark Blue for my tablescape, but I loved them.  I turned around, and there on the next aisle were the linens.  I spotted  the napkins and place mat set in the identical blue color, and knew I wanted them, but still didn’t have a plan, other than mix them with some white dishes

I do wish all of you that are looking at my table could join me for tea on my deck.  It all looks so nice, but without friends to share a meal with, it’s only a pretty face!  I’m just glad that I had a reason to get them out of the boxes and on display.  They deserve to be oogled for a day!

I hope you enjoyed your visit. Come back anytime!  And don’t forget to keep “living in the Pink!”

Mary

  5. Mary, What a beautiful eliquite table setting for this beautiful fine morning. I love blue, and this is exquisite. The pitchers look so pretty setting amongst the tableware and the napkins and placemats are a perfect match. Don't you just love it, when you pick all these things up at different times, and then all at once they are a setting together? So beautiful. Great post honey. Let's have tea. Country Hugs, Sherry

  6. Mary, this table is so lovely! I would gladly join you for tea any time. I have long admired this pattern, and I saw some at either Marshall's or TJ Maxx last week. Blue and white is probably my favorite china. This pattern reminds me of another "delft" pattern that is made my Royal Copenhagan. I just love how crisp it looks against your blue placemats and napkins. Thanks so much for sharing all of your sources. I have a blue pattern called Canton by Mottahedeh, and I'm now wondering if I should do some blue placemats with it. I usually use woven bamboo or the wickery looking ones or just plain white, but seeing this blue is making me think how nice that would look, too!

Here's wishing you a very Happy Tablescape Thursday. I'm having a giveaway, and I hope you'll pop over if you haven't already done so. I haven't had a chance to read my blog this morning as I'm trying to see all the tablescapes before I have to leave to do errands.

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

  11. Beautiful! Beautiful! Beautiful! EVERYTHING is simply breathtaking. I've always liked blue okay but it was never high on my list of favorite colors. They say your tastes change as you get older and I guess that must be true because I'm really drawn to all shades of blue these days. :)

  14. Hi, Mary! Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a nice comment! I'm slowly making my way through all the Tablescapes, and yours is so pretty! I always loved blue and white! I see you have a lot of it in your home, so pretty!

I'd like to 'pastel' my home, it's more Tuscan colors now, but I'll just try to do that on the back porch for now. My husband would be fine with whatever I do but I know he wouldn't be crazy about me decorating the whole house in 'shabby chic' which is my latest love! 'Wish I had thought to do my kitchen in white when we had it renovated! Oh well.

    Nice blog, Mary! Beautiful tablescape!
    All the best,
    Eileen

Isn't it fun to find something like the beautiful pitchers you found. They look so pretty all grouped together. Such a lovely tablescape. Thanks also for stopping by my TT and your very gracious and kind comments. I really appreciate it. Hugs, Marty
