Happy Sunday Morning to everyone. I'm joining Charlotte and Ginger for Spiritual Sundays...please join me by clicking on the blue sky to the right.
Yesterday, I posted a very moving video about Santa bringing the soldiers home...if you didn't get a chance to see it yet, I hope you will today. A sweet little girl's voice sings to us, as she asks Santa to bring her daddy home. It was her heart's cry to someone in whom she believed could bring anything she asked for. No doubt, every wish on her Christmas list had been filled by her parents, but she won't know that until she's older. I thought about it...we know who the true Giver of gifts is...do we have that kind of faith in Him? Do we trust Him enough to pray for our needs? Or do we receive gifts, and somehow think that they came from someone else...like "good luck", or "fate", or "our own hard work"?
Do we treat Him like a Santa Claus, and only talk to Him when we want something?
Why Jesus is Better Than Santa Claus
Santa lives at the North Pole...
JESUS is everywhere.
Santa rides in a sleigh...
JESUS rides on the wind and walks on the water.
Santa comes but once a year...
JESUS is an ever present help.
Santa fills your stockings with goodies...
JESUS supplies all your needs.
Santa comes down your chimney uninvited...
JESUS stands at your door and knocks, and then enters your heart when invited.
You have to wait in line to see Santa...
JESUS is as close as the mention of His name.
Santa lets you sit on his lap...
JESUS lets you rest in His arms.
Santa doesn't know your name, all he can say is "Hi little boy or girl, what's your name?"...
JESUS knew our name before we were born. Not only does He know our name, He knows our address too. He knows our history and future and He even knows how many hairs are on our heads.
Santa has a belly like a bowl full of jelly...
JESUS has a heart full of love
All Santa can offer is HO HO HO...
JESUS offers health, help and hope.
Santa says "You better not cry"...
JESUS says "Cast all your cares on me for I care for you."
Santa's little helpers make toys...
JESUS makes new life, mends wounded hearts, repairs broken homes and builds mansions.
Santa may make you chuckle but...
JESUS gives you joy that is your strength.
While Santa puts gifts under your tree...
JESUS became our gift and died on a tree...the cross.
We need to put Christ back in CHRISTmas, Jesus is still the reason for the season.
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16).

NOTE: I posted this morning while getting ready for church and failed to copy and paste the link from which I found this...it is from http://www.thoughts-about-god.com/christmas/jesus_better.htm. A few of the first commenters thought I wrote it, and while I greatly appreciate the wonderful words of praise, I am NOT that creative! When I found it, I just copied and pasted it to my post, and had to hurry off, then all during the service, I thought about it and hoped no one would think it was me...I'm so sorry...I did not intend to deceive you into thinking that I wrote it. Whoever did write it did a wonderful job.
May your Sunday be filled with love and wonder...God bless you all!

Oh Mary what a wonderful gift you have given all your visitors. I also read the previous one. I have not been blogging much, trying to do all my projects. They are all hand made with so much love. I have thanked Jesus each day for the strength and ability to continue to create for my loved ones. Blessings

Hello my friend! Loved the post! Have a wonderous Sunday!~Hugs, Patti
ReplyDeleteDear Mary, thank you for your lovely post. You would probably be surprised at how many Christian parents put santa before the Lord Jesus at Christmas. How confusing it must be for those children. I'm so pleased that you've found this to share with us.
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed Sunday :o)

Have a blessed Christmas. And may many hearts in despair will cry out to Jesus instead. God bless you sister Mary.
Santa is good but no doubt about it, Jesus is a million times better. No, a gazillion times better. Now I'm going to look at that video you posted yesterday.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Charlotte
This was great, Mary!
ReplyDeleteAnd anyone who knows you would know that you would NEVER try to deceive us!
I do that very same thing so often! And then it's not until someone is telling my that my poem or my photography is wonderful that I realize it!
You are so sweet, Mary, and I loved this very wise comparison.
Thank you for sharing it with us.
'Hope things are going well for you and that you are not too busy to enjoy the Blessings of the Season!
Love to you,
Eileen

ReplyDeleteWe taught our kids the importance of Christmas at an early age. My Parents never did that.

My darling Mary, what a lovely, sweet, precious post. I read it twice so that I can take it all in. I so needed this type of awakening today.
ReplyDeleteMy dearest, it has been a longtime since my last visit, darling I thank you for visiting me continuously and unconditionally, you are so kind to come over at the click of my post even when I am not able to return your visit, you are the biggest gem in my tiara.
Darling, I hope that by now you have taken care of your Christmas preparation and that you are able to enjoy the holiday season without worry. You and I have so much on our plates and yet somehow we find the time to do it all. My cottage is ready for Christmas and I hope and pray that everything will go on smoothly !!
Take care my friend; I will be back before Christmas to visit you again.
