I feel so fortunate to have met some wonderful people through this blog. , and I want to thank all of you that left comments for me on Sunday, when I shared with you that my husband has lost almost all of his sight due to retinitis pigmentosa. Your kindness and prayers mean the world to me…I am so blessed to call you friends. It meant so much to me, also, to learn that so many of you, or someone you love, is experiencing vision loss due to various conditions. We really don’t know what we have until we lose it, and eyesight is something so precious, that it is very devastating when you feel it slipping away. As so many of you told me that your heart goes out to me and my husband, I want you to know that mine goes out to you, and that I am praying for you, too. Without miracles, what has been lost seldom returns, but we know that we gain in spiritual sight…we can see in another dimension what we could not see before. Our senses are awakened to what really counts in life, so our loss is lessened, and in most cases, we are better for it. My husband knows that, and even though there are moments of frustration, he counts his blessings. Again, we both thank you very, very much!
Tuesdays are a favorite time to share all things tea with Kim @http://shabbypinkandpretty.blogspot.com/. Since I love tea and all the wonderful china and silver, flowers and linens that accompany a tea party, whether for one or for a hundred, collecting those things has become a favorite hobby of mine, and I love sharing them with you.
This little teapot with its matching creamer and sugar bowl are made by Coastline Imports. I bought them at Home Goods earlier this year…now you Home Goods shoppers know that so often, you will find the teapot, or the cream and sugar, but seldom do we find complete sets…unless you just happen to be there the day they put them out! I never saw any matching teacups, so I don’t have them…yet…but I’m working on it!
The pattern is Petite Fleur…don’t you just love that name?
I love the border of a black swag adorned with tiny pink roses.
My roses decided to give me one last huge burst of blossoms this past week, on almost every busy I have. Since we’re expecting a storm in late tonight, I went out today and cut every rose that had begun to open, leaving only those small buds that I felt would survive the rain over the next couple of days. My house is full of the beautiful aroma of roses. The roses pictured with my tea set is a soft peach. All of a sudden, I can’t remember the name, and its dark out so I can’t go look. It is a tea rose with huge buds and blooms, with a wonderful fragrance, too. I love the color… one of my favorites, and I think they look so nice with this sweet little tea set.
From the Tea Lovers Devotional, by Emilie Barnes:
Heart Action…"Practice integrity in all that you say and do. Work on making promises only when you are certain you will keep them. Become a woman that others can trust.”
Thank you so much for joining me Tea Things Tuesday. I’m going to put the tea kettle on right now, and warm the scones, so please join me for a little tea party, and we’ll sit by the fire as we sip, taste, and enjoy watching the rain.
I know I always ask you to pray for our troops. I’m asking again…we can’t forget about them. They need our prayers and they need to know we care. There are many organizations that you can join and help by sending needed items and writing letters. When I think of how encouraging it is to read your blogs and to receive sweet comments from you, I can just imagine how encouraging it would be for them to receive little notes or cards from people that they haven’t met, but who tell them that their courage and dedication is appreciated so very much. Pray that they return home safely…and soon.
God bless everyone, and God bless our troops.
Mary
What a nice post. We have much in common. I collect tea sets as well. The one you have displayed is beautiful, as well as the roses. I love tea. I am sitting right now sipping a cup of apple cinnamon tea with a little honey in it as I have a scratchy throat. I will say a prayer for you and I always pray for the troops. We have 2 friends serving in Afghanistan right now.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you Anne
Dear Mary, what a lovely tea trio!! I can imaging enjoying tea from that pot, though I might have to refrain from any sweet treats that goes so well with a 'cuppa'...lately I have been overindulging :o) I might just join in tea things Tuesday, next week since I too have several tea sets.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your lovely post. God bless you and yours.
Hugs
Beautiful teas set, Mary, love the detail! Beautiful roses too!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, heart felt post!
Beautiful YOU!!
You really are a good soul.
Love and Prayers,
Eileen
Beautiful tea sets!
ReplyDeleteContinuing to pray for your hubby! My MIL had macular degeneration and it was very frustrating for her. She had been a very active lady who did lots of handwork. It saddened me to watch. She however, always had a wonderful attitude most days.
Blessings, andrea

Hi Mary....Love the tea set! I have never seen a complete set like that at Homegoods. I would love to come across that some day. Wouldn't that be great if we could actually have tea together? Your post was wonderful, again, today! You are a special person that I am glad to call my "friend"!~Hugs, Patti
ReplyDeleteAnother lovely post and another lovely tea set, I really like it. Your roses have held up well and are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteYou know Mary, I do think that is a wonderful idea, if each blogger wrote just one letter think of all the letters that would go out to the troops....wonder how we could do that.
Have a great day.......:-) Hugs
What lovely finds from Home Goods! You never know what little treasures you will find there...almost like antiqueing!!
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear about your husbands' loss of sight...I will be praying that God would show Himself mighty on your family's behalf and that even through this sad page, great things He can do in your lives :)
I hope you aren't floating away over there...it is coming down in bucketfuls here!!

Mary Thank you for forwarding info from my post on Vaccine and autism. I thought I'd pop over and check your blog out. I am so sorry to hear about your husband's sight and wish you all the best for coping with such a loss.
ReplyDeleteWe are so in the hands of our medical profession and do so expect them to be supper human forgetting they are only as we are with some extra knowledge and training.
I love your teapot have to really as it is like one I have here, when my daughter last called she asked if she could have it I was pleased to pass it on as I have some other similar ones.
Best wishes to you all
Hello Mary, I'm trying to catch up on some visiting. I'm sorry I haven't been by in a while. Your "heart action" really struch a chord with me today. It is so easy to overextend ourselvese because we want to be there for everyone and end up not being there for anyone becuase we have promised too much.
ReplyDeleteStay warm and dry today, it's a blustery one here!
Hugs,
Dawn
Hi Mary, I am so pleased that you visited my blog, so I could come over and visit yours! I love making new "friends", especially ones who are Christian. I am, also very sorry to hear of your husbands eye problems. I am so grateful for sight! I love your attitude, it is so refreshing to see it. So many people turn their back on God and blame Him for not loving them, when in reality it is quite the opposite. I am listening to the song "Blessed Be the Name of the Lord, their is a verse that says "You give and take away, you give and take away, my heart will choose to say, Lord Blessed be your name." Another verse says "When the darkness closes in Lord, still I will say Blessed be the Name of the Lord!" When we can truly do that, then we are winners and we have seen things the way that God wants us to see them. Don't know why I am saying all this, but your words inspired me! Please visit me again and I will also visit you. Hugs and prayers for US and Canadian troops. Cindy S.
ReplyDeleteMary, I love this tea set! I've been fortunate to be invited every year to an annual Christmas tea at the Phoenician. It's an elegant hotel in the Phoenix area and is decorated beautifully at that time of year. My friend Terri invites me every year for the past 10! So Mary you and I share that too. I thank you for all your comments and visits to Heart Choices. I'm enjoying getting to know you better.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Debbie
I very much enjoyed seeing your pretty Petite Fleur tea set, flowers and lovely linens. I love the hint of coral color in the roses before they open - very pretty.
ReplyDeleteHi Mary, I am so sorry to hear about your husbands eyesight, I believe in miracles and I hope you do too. I'll be praying for your husband to have full recovery with his eyes. We take so much for granted with our health and I'm one of them at times, and I need to take better care of myself ... we all do don't we? I really feel for him and having that being hereditary is pretty hard to except. I can't even imagine having that happening but I did have a close call by having Grave Disease which sometimes affects the muscle behind the eye to cause some blindness. I know my brother had it really bad and had a lot of eye operations because of it.
ReplyDeleteYour tea set is pretty, actually anything with pink roses is hard to pass up.
Wishing you and your husband all the best-
Lovely day to you Mary!
ReplyDeleteGod richly bless you and yours.
This is such a pretty post with your delicate china. Special that have shared with us this beauty.
I had some free time today so I went what I call junkin'! The Lord Blessed me real good today!!! I am so excited what I came home with on this cold, cloudy day.
Cheered me.
Take care and just think, we're sisters in Christ and we are daughters of the most high God!!!
Shine on,
d

ReplyDeleteHi Mary,
ReplyDeleteI'm slowly making my rounds for Tea Things Tuesday now that work, dinner and dishes are out of the way. Now it's time for all the pretty stuff and your tea set sure fits the bill. So sweet with all the little roses. I hope you will be able to find a few matching teacups at some point.
I missed your post over the weekend so had not read before about your husband and how he has lost most of his vision. What a terrible thing for both of you, but I'm glad you are able to remain so positive about things.
Enjoy the rest of your week. Now I'm off to visit some more blogs. Take care.
Kim

ReplyDeleteMary, what a pretty set you have there. Reminds me of the Shabby Chic sheets! We have no Home Goods near me. I have never been! Boo Hoo ..I feel so deprived. Will have to hitch a ride to Va Beach as I think there is one there now.

Hi Mary, I am so sorry to hear about your Husband. I am now trying to catch up on reading my favorite blogs. I will light a candle and say a prayer for him. Who knows maybe one day soon they will find someway to help him and others like him.

Lovely tea set and lovely blog. God Bless your husband and God Bless our troops. I have a son in law that has been to Iraq 3 times and will be back a 4th in January.
ReplyDeleteBetsy
Mary this is a beautiful tea set. You were very lucky to find it all. It looks so pretty sitting there with your garden roses.
ReplyDeleteYour words in this post and your previous post are so true and I have found this in my own life. When we experience a loss of a dream, we usually have another that comes true for us. We are never left alone, unless we refuse to see the blessing.
Hugs,
June
Your tea set is lovely, and so are the roses.

Hello darling, I will start this comment by telling you how much I have missed you these past few weeks. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kind words and prayers. I am one lucky girl to have you as a friend; you truly are the gem in my teacup. Mary darling, during my dad’s hospital stay, I help up my laptop so that he can see your lovely photos….he was fascinated. He said to tell you that you and I will make longlife friends since we are both so alike. I asked him how he knows that, he said, “Just your blogs, they are identical and speak volumes about your passions, longlife friends you two will be”. So there my luv, we are glued together for ever!!! I tell you your blog kept my dad busy for well over an hour, so thank you for having such an interesting blog. I am now off to stroll around your blog to see what I have missed.
ReplyDeleteI truly missed you luv
Love & Hugs
